December 2nd, 2007We are testing a new product ‘MoSnaps’ that lets you post pictures from your cell phone on to your blog. The pictures you are seeing below are taken from a mobile phone. MoSnaps updates your blog real time. With MoSnaps you just have to post your picture once and your picture will automatically be updates in all your website, Blog, Mysapce, facebook or any other site where you want it updated. So you don’t have to go through the cumbersome process of manually updating all your sites.
There is still a lot of work to be done. This is just a proof of concept. Isn’t that cool ?!
Maufait InstaCard
October 27th, 2007Recently i traveled to New Jersey and i saw lots of people using blackberries at the airport and also people sitting beside me in the plane. I was so tempted to tell them about Maufait InstaFind and how convenient it is. But then to hear about Maufait and a 3 minute explanation why they should download it from someone they haven’t met before, might appear awkward or intrusive or “I’m not in the mood for it right now”. So i have designed InstaCards. Now all i have to do is “I see you have a blackberry and i thought you might find this useful” or “I see you have a blackberry and someone just gave me this and i thought you might find this useful” and handover the card. Nothing personal, doesn’t have my name on it etc…

Maufait has a new look
October 15th, 2007We just made our new site live yesterday. Maufait needed a new look for long time. We got a lot of very nice feedback. Great job Brandon and Erik from Webologist Design.
Brandon and Erik are very nice to work with. They are very proactive and creative and they go beyond to do a great job. Brand and Erik not only came up with gread design and layout for our site, they also redesigned our logo, though it was not part of the briefing. They strongly felt it needs a new look and we are pleased with the outcome.
If you need a new look for your site and your are looking for some very creative web design, i would strongly recommend Webologist Design

Maufait gets even better
June 14th, 2007I haven’t been blogging for a while. Not that i’ve lost interest, i’ve been just caught up in a lot of updates and fixes.
Weather: Weather is now customizable in Fahrenheit and Celsius. We have been getting a lot of users from Canada and UK.
Local/411: We added quick links based on popular searches so its easy for users to search. We have grouped quick links into 3 categories. Emergency, Going Out and Dine Out.
Emergency: Hospital, ATM, Cab, Gas Station, Towing
Dine Out: American, Italian, Indian, Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Fast Food
Go Out: Bars, Clubs, Museum, Galleries, Parks, Bookstore
The day we launched “Find Lowest Gas Prices” on mobile, our querires and downloads shot up almost 400%. We are working on launching more amazing services.
Next week i will be officially starting Chapter 2 of maufait. Will explain why i call it chapter 2.
Till then Enjoy Maufaiting!
Time for updates
May 2nd, 2007We launched few new services:
In short the past 2 weeks have been about enhancing user experience and adding key services.
Downloads have been coming in at a faster pace; got postive feedback from users. That was very encouraging.
And yes, i received a nice and funny email from a user who couldn’t find the FAQ section. The email read “I couldn’t find anything in the link that says ‘FAQ’ where is your FAQ section. I guess that would be one of you FAQ questions, where is FAQ?”
After reading that, i moved FAQ to the top of the list and its there now and in bold.
Another user said “I’m not impressed with maufait its too simple”. Why would someone not like something that’s simple? I don’t know. I take that as a compliment.
Also finished the CYA (Terms and Condition) section. The screen shot is done and it’s in the download page.
One thing we noticed is that, we are getting a lot of unique visits but not as many downloads. Why? Here is my hypothesis: To download maufait, you need to visit the download page from your mobile browser. That’s some effort involved there. My guess is, users just forget or don’t want to make that extra effort. I agree and why should they? I wouldn’t. So to make it easy on the users, we added ‘I hate typing, email me the link to download’ link to the download page, that way they don’t have to type anything and the link is front of them in their inbox. This had a great impact on our downloads and we are seeeing a lot of visitors emailing link. The download rate has shot up.
One number that puzzles me is, signups are at 50% of downloads. Why is that? We suspect that many of the users are not on a BES server, and are getting a connection error and they are not emailing maufait support. To instal and run maufait, they need to change their APN settings on their phone. But a non geek user might simply assume maufait does not work. I would have assumed the same if i was on that side of palermo.
We have now added a custom error page, which will redirect the user to a page on maufait that will give them the solution for the error. Hope this increases the signup to download rate.
Will write soon. Meanwhile, enjoy maufaiting
Where is the shutdown button?
April 18th, 2007Bought a new Macbook pro yesterday, i have never used mac before, always been a windows person. Its Slick, period. I’ve changed my decision to go long on AAPL.
The funny part is, got so excited configuring my new laptop, I almost forgot that it was 1 a.m. Finally, i got so tired and wanted to shutdown the laptop. I couldn’t find the shutdown button!
Searched a lot, typed it in mac help, couldn’t find the answer. I didn’t want to use the power button, I do that with my dell if it takes long or just pull the battery out. Oooh not with mac. SO i googled “How to shutdown a mac”. Browsed through the results and learn’t that you need to click on apple menu to shut it down.
I know Windows menu, but no clue where apple menu is and how it looks. Did a quick google image search “Apple Menu”. Finally i was able to shut it down at 2:15 a.m.
